Poem from Mars

misty Martian morning dawning
Earth the morning star
fading as I am still yawning
while being very far

from the green world of my childhood
from a world where it rained
from a place next to a wildwood
Moon waxing to then wane

sky ablaze on golden evenings
breathing simple air
many comings and too leavings
of beings everywhere

ravens, foxes, mountain lions
eagles and too bear
insects, bats and all the flying
beings in the air -

misty Martian morning dawning
remembering before
moving here despite the warning
Mars is something more

penetrating, awe inspiring
it reveals what is within
both untangling and rewiring
it's where to begin...
